Assistant General Manager – Operations

A transformative leader with a track record in implementing corporate strategy and change to reduce cost, enhance quality and efficiency, Andrea Gordon-Martin is a Chartered Insurer with more than 30 years of experience in the general insurance industry.

She has experience in claims and reinsurance risk management, operations management, process improvement, market research and product development in general insurance.

Mrs. Gordon-Martin’s career in the general insurance industry began at Advantage General Insurance Company, formerly United General Insurance Company, where she had a distinguished 20-year tenure, serving the company in various leadership roles, including as President and Director from 2006 to 2007.

She joined the JN General Insurance Company as Assistant General Manager – Operations in 2008.  In this role, she oversees the company’s Operations Division, which includes claims, legal, information technology, central underwriting processing, records management, customer care, direct sales and the branch network.

She holds a Masters of Business Administration with a major in International Business (distinction) from The University of the West Indies (UWI); a Chartered Insurance degree in General Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London; and a BSc – major in Mathematics and Physics (Electronics), with honours,  from UWI.  In 1989, she was awarded the Alexander Howden prize for achieving the most outstanding examination results in South America and the Caribbean in the Chartered Insurance Institute of London examinations.

Her professional involvement includes being Deputy Chairperson, College of Insurance and Professional Studies; Director, International Trust and Merchant Bank/UGI Finance; Trustee, UGI Group of Companies Pension Fund, and she also serves as a member of the executive committee of the Insurance Association of Jamaica.

Mrs Gordon-Martin has been Treasurer since 2013 at the St. Paul’s United Church and is a member of the Camperdown Alumni Association, having served as first Vice President for 2018-2022.
